Matter Unorganized is about finding meaning through the process of understanding our lives through the lens of divine story. It’s about taking circumstances dealt us and making more of them and more of us in how we organize them and use them to grow.
We created Matter Unorganized as a place for us to explore the ideas of authentic human expression in the media arts, understand creative processes, explore how self-management aids artistic minds, and delve into how business and the numbers are just as much a part of the process as is the creation of moving imagery.
We believe that there are no real original ideas, but ideas organized in an original fashion. The order of assembly, the combination of elements, what’s left in and what’s left out, the timing and release of details – these make all the difference in creating something unique, no matter the medium of the art. We just happen to dig making films.
Personally, we don’t believe in making films because they will be “popular” in the mass sense of the word, or to ride a current cultural wave. We don’t believe in amoral filmmaking, wherein salacious, base, or ill human behavior is rewarded, condoned, or ignored. In a sense, we ascribe to a higher standard of filmmaking, our own Hays Code if you will.
We desire to tell stories that matter; stories that stand the test of time – compelling human stories that portray light and truth. We hope to inspire our readers to do the same.
We’ll be honest, we believe there is audience for content that is soul-stretching, and edifying. We believe in a balance of entertainment and meaning. We feel there are financial partners out there that will believe in what we do, how we do it, and why we do it. We strain about perfection. We see ourselves as experience creators not just filmmakers.
This blog is an outlet for us to share ideas, share what we learn, create discussion, and learn from the community of creative doers. Feel free to chime in.
Welcome to Matter Unorganized.
